How do we eat in the big cities of the future?Hur äter vi i framtidens storstäder?

More and more people are settling in urban areas, which will mean a new situation for how we will produce and handle food in the future. The technology also becomes smarter. Food processing applications, urban cultivation projects, DNA tests for customized diets and stores without personnel are popping up worldwide. In this challenge, we want you to submit ideas and suggestions based on the question: How can we, with smart technology, solve the food needs of the future?

By 2050, two-thirds of the world's population (then 10 billion) will live in urban areas. This places higher demands on production, food transport, storage, cooling and waste management. The UN's eleventh sustainability goal is "sustainable cities and societies" and is about settlements being inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable and imposing entirely new demands on how we should live in the future. Can digitization help us create smarter cities in relation to food?

This challenge is inspired by the fifth section of Openlabs podcast Food Lab - about food, science and society. [ # 5 How to eat in the big city of the future! | Matlaboratorium on acast ]
In the fifth section, Samuel Young and Malin Y Eriksson are interviewed by ICA's innovation hub ICAx about the future food stores, Elsa Bernadotte co-founder of the food waste app Karma about behavioral changes for more sustainable eating habits and Peter Majanen's valuation researcher and CEO of the strategy agency Quattroporte about the 00-talists' views on food and technology.

The food will become even more important in the future, some talking about the food industry as a megatrend and the future big growth market. Several experts also claim that we will have data on everything, how the food has been manufactured, what we need according to our DNA to get in us, which will give us more customized food and cooking. At the same time, we are expected to have more time in the future as we will put on social meals and cooking. Now it is up to you to send suggestions on: "How can we, with smart technology, solve the food needs of the future?"

Submit your tips and ideas on how you think digital solutions and smart technology can help us grow, produce, distribute, trade, cook and recycle in a smart and sustainable way.

| Matlaboratoriet on acast ]
