How can software and digital technologies used to reduce food waste?

Idea Collection

Social cooling with app!

Scan what you put into the fridge, with an app on your phone. Either you read the barcode and hit a database, or you take a photo of the vegetable and the app uses image recognition to give a couple of options on what it can be.
For those things with packaging and best-before dates you can also scan it, and for fresh products without the best before date you can have a database where you have an estimated best-before time for different goods.

Then you get notifications in the mobile when things start to approach their best before date. And get suggestions on what you can cook what should go out with what you have at home. Or maybe tips on what you can supplement with to cook something. Or tips on how to combine what you have in your fridge with that of your buddy living nearby.

  • Block for food

What happens if you could sell the food that you do not have time to eat up. For example, whether to travel away or if you simply didn't like what you bought.
