Children's Right To Culture
Ideation
Building on:
-
Teachers finding motivations for why to take students to cultural events
Logic behind ideas:
Teacher needs to motivate and justify cultural events facing:
- Sceptical students
- Parents who doesn’t see the value of culture in schools and want their kids to have good grades and focus on science
- Other teachers that need to adjust their schedule in order for the event to take place
- To him/herself: how does the teacher value short-term goals of exams etc. VERSUS long-term goals of creating future citizens and what role does the teacher see in culture for this? (Do cultural activities improve school performance and grades/ is it valuable for the creation of the future citizen)
In order to justify why the teacher should take the students to a cultural events he/she needs to:
- Create trust between him/herself and students and parents
- Be well informed about the content and quality of activities
- Be confident with him/her own ability to organize an activity
- Feel confident that the students will enjoy the activity (especially for those who have no previous experience of such activities!)
partnerships
Create partnerships between schools that do well and schools that don’t do so well to exchange ideas and initiate changes
