Cultural and association life in Rågsved!
Post ideas for how local associations and citizens can work together to develop cultural and association life in Rågsved!
Why?
An important part of the City of Stockholm's work to realize the vision of a cohesive, equal city is that local development work in the districts should take place in dialogue with local actors. Civil society, association life and cultural life have a positive significance for creating a rich local community. So with a focus on Rågsved, in March the district administration initiated a workshop that brought together the area's local associations. The purpose was to create an understanding of the needs, driving forces and obstacles that exist to collaborate and strengthen local cultural and association life.

Why? - full description
In the City of Stockholm's "Vision 2040 - A Stockholm for All", a city is described that makes everyone grow, where segregation decreases, children and adults have the future faith and equal opportunities to realize their lives. An important part of the City of Stockholm's work on realizing the vision is that local development work in the city's neighborhoods should take place on the basis of a citizen's perspective, based on local conditions and unique qualities and in dialogue with residents and local actors.
In the district of Enskede-Årsta-Vantör, Rågsved is a prioritized area for the city, where an important objective is that those who live and move in the area are listened to, are involved in the local community and thrive. Civil society, associations and cultural life have a positive impact on creating a rich local community and an important role for democracy.
Therefore, the district administration initiated a workshop on March 25, 2017, which gathered Rågsved's local associations to jointly investigate how we can develop cultural and association life in the area. The purpose was to create understanding and insights about the needs, driving forces and obstacles that exist to collaborate and strengthen the local community. The next step is to create ideas based on that understanding of the conditions.
These were insights that emerged from Rågsveds associations:
Drivers:
It is clear that there is a huge commitment and many who want to work together to create a social community in Rågsved and to make a difference. Several people take up the simple conversation as an important part of the exchange and value of the community - that it creates a richer local community. Several see the culture and association life as it is and should continue to be in constant development, where we create it together.
Needs:
Many highlight very practical needs for creating structure and long-term sustainable collaborations. There is a need for a coordinator who makes sure to steer up and ensure that regular meetings are made by the associations. Some type of platform is needed to exchange information and easily interact, even when not seen. There is a need for structures and support to reach out to people in the local area and to reach out to groups that many see as positive if one can get more in the associations, such as young people in the area.
Obstacle:
Obstacles raised in almost all interviews with workshop participants are that there is a strong need to find places / premises where one can meet in order for the valuable exchange to take place. Despite the fact that many people feel committed, it is also several that highlight that time, volunteers who are going to do things and resources can be an obstacle.

NEXT STEPS IN RAW?
(suggested at workshop):
• Documentation is available from the workshop
• One more meeting between local associations should be obtained before the summer. Ideas can be taken further here!
• The associations continue to meet at regular meetings and visit each other to learn more about each other. Ideas can be taken further here!
• The district administration is involved or convening
Light Festival - It looks bright for Rågsved!
Rågsveds Ljusfestival. A locally based process that contributes to pride, lighter and safer outdoor environments as well as a new positive image of Rågsved.
Where association life and local actors participate and together create the festival. Based on the hypothesis that you take responsibility for a small part of the festival, you feel involved and will in the long run feel pride for the festival as a whole.
The proposal emerged in a project that I did at Konstfack 2012, I hope they can inspire you in your project.
