How should we attract more teachers to apply for vacancies in Skärholmen's primary schools?

All children in Stockholm have the right to a good education regardless of background. One of Stockholm City's focus goals until 2018 is "A Stockholm that holds together" where a good school for all is an important goal. The challenges look different in different parts of the city and there are schools that have difficulty attracting teachers to apply for advertised positions.

All children in Stockholm are entitled to a good education regardless of background. One of Stockholm's targeting goals until 2018 is "A Stockholm that holds together" where a good school for all is an important goal. The challenges look different in different parts of the city and there are schools that find it difficult to attract teachers to apply for advertised services.

Background:
The city's operations will help to create conditions for growth that give all children the same chance. The preschool and school should be given priority and the city should actively promote reduced child poverty and that all families, regardless of constellation, should be treated equally.

Special focus is placed on more teachers and educators. Schools with low knowledge results should be able to hire the most skilled teachers and the number of special educators should increase.

The educational administration / committee in the City of Stockholm is responsible for the City of Stockholm's school system, ie the operation of municipal activities in leisure centers, primary schools, primary schools, upper secondary schools and upper secondary schools. Furthermore, the Board is responsible for the supervision of independent preschools. There are about 145 municipal primary schools and 26 municipal upper secondary schools in the City of Stockholm.

The education administration / committee in the City of Stockholm is responsible for Stockholm city's school system. The starting point for the business is that the students should have the best conditions, support and stimulation so that they develop as far as possible in their learning. Skilled teachers are crucial for students to succeed in school. Skilled leaders are crucial for teachers to succeed with their assignment.

The challenges look different in different parts of the city, among other things, there are differences in the search pressure for advertised services between different school areas. Many schools receive many eligible applicants for advertised services, but there are also schools that do not receive qualified applicants. This applies, for example, to primary schools in Skärholmen.

The often negative image of the school and the teaching profession that is reflected in the media also greatly affects the attractiveness of the teaching profession, and there are generally too few positive images about the teaching profession.

Challenge:
The challenge is to come up with solutions to attract skilled teachers to work in Skärholmens municipal primary schools; Bredängskolan, Slättskolan Lillholmsskolan / Ekholmsskolan, Sätraskolan, Söderholmsskolan.

Create partnerships with creative initiatives in the local area

Skärholmen has very great initiative so that the creative Site Design Lab's (design workshop where you can create solutions to such a man is passionate about) and House of culture with the theater and everything going on around it. You go further out on the red line, see the initiative as Subtopia which leaves room for older teens to create and influence. Perhaps one can PEP Berättarministeriet to move to the area (writing workshops for children and teachers), they are looking at more areas to be in Stockholm.

Schools in Aberdeen could improve/build up a structure to further cooperate and get help from these initiatives in their teaching. It opens up both for students and teachers to work more creatively in the pedagogy. And to link students ' everyday life and sites they can feel safe in outside of school.

These types of collaborations I think can create a big change for teachers (even if it's not improving the basic conditions, as needed). And if it actually integrates such a structure of interaction-you can then communicate it as I think attracts many teachers. It can be a part of raising the status of the teaching profession in the area-to feel that you are part of such a type of network of collaborative creative initiatives. It can also make you feel you are supported by a wide range of educational resources.

Who does this: It must be a partnership between schools and the various initiatives. It would have to be settled expectations, a basic structure for how collaboration can work and a structure for how to support each other in the best possible way. This extra work would school have to add an extra allowance on (maybe seek money for) that teachers should not have to take off the existing time to create the system. The best would be a structure that will allow schools in the area also are beginning to talk more with each other and interact around the challenges and ideas.

Change the terms and conditions of the teachers!

Suggestions:
Be more careful with it being a reasonable load for every teacher in terms of time with the children and administration (reduce the amount of administration if it is possible). This may require the need to hire more or be restructured in information between teachers and administrative employees but it should be followed up more so that the load is reasonable giving the teacher the tools to feel better mentally and physically. Perhaps methods such as scrum help with visibility to all the extra work that shouldn't have to be on every teacher.

More special education support (more special education teachers) and may support as regards mental health (which is becoming increasingly worse over the Stockholm) from more counselors. To be able to create good conditions for their students to learn in school, should be a collaboration between the teacher and the other features of the school (as it is already present). This cooperation and these extra resources need to be increased enormously.

Proposal: generally, I think the salary of all within the teaching profession should be increased by $ 1,000 at least (not about 10 years but now all at once). It MUST be adjusted if because that salary should say something about the importance of läraruppdraget is as a social function. It doesn't now.

Who:
This needs to come from the very top politicians and authorities that can change and create a better environment and better conditions.

It also needs to come from the schools. And a collaboration between the schools and the city of Stockholm, for example, to be able to get help with money to set up more resources and be able to get help to make organizational changes. The organisational changes needed to make visible to the load (time, arbetsuppgifts-wise, mentally and physically) is reasonable.

This requires a courageous and far-sighted leadership both from the top of the schools, from the city and from politics.

Good design signals good teaching

Bet on architecture and design from the child's point of view. more imaginative environments, custom made solutions for furniture, building together with the children for other children. Architecture and design create atmosphere and mood not only builds up the shell and meets the main features.

Integration, pay and work/life balance

1) People don't want to take the teaching professions to the wages are poor in relation to the cash work/life-balance as the profession now. < br/> < br/> 2) Free school choice has also worsened the level of schools in Skärholmen in regards to the demographics (many Swedish parents move their children to schools in the inner city/inner suburbs). This has increased exclusion and worked against the integration of the children left in the schools there. < br/> < br/> The combination of these allows the job as teacher in Skärholmen is a one-way ticket to Burnout, long-term sickness, early retirement and poverty. Really do not understand how to implement some sort of quick-fix on this i.e. "create a positive image of the teaching profession" or "ice cream on Thursdays"; < br/> < br/> Source: Both parents were teachers and warns me of the profession even though they used to love their job. It was my dream career when I was growing up but has learned that society does not give priority to the teaching profession.

Start and build the best high school

There is currently not even a secondary school in Aberdeen that teachers can look for jobs, so a good start which is to start a. It should be nice and accessible location, teaches art law, share strong, pleasant and excellent rooms and good food!

Digital teacher

In this digital world, Sweden is getting better on yearly bases. We can take advantage like: Skype classes which can be possible to operate remotely and apparently work for more than one class simultaneously. The recordings will help for future classes. Student assignments can be submit online or checked thorough computer programme. It doesn’t mean that all the classes would be online but classes which have the teacher shortage can be operated for some part of time.

Praktik teacher

Many new people are coming to Sweden whom have many years of experience and good education background but due to the Swedish pedagogy law they cannot teach till they finish their Swedish language levels. We can take help from those people and hire them for short or temporary bases. Many people will come to join as practise teacher. To assess their ability level there could be a text provide from Stockholm stad/ University. It takes almost 2 years to learn Swedish and 3 years to complete the university exam. If this time can be shortened than it will provide many new people who will be wishfully love to work as teacher rather than wasting their energy on a long and lengthy time in all this process.
